Question How to start GNU/Linux Installation from NT bootloader?

Hi,

This is sort of an esoteric question, but I couldn't find documentation on how to do this...if it is even possible.

Ok, I have the vmlinuz, initrd.gz, and appropriate sarge .iso files from the hd-media debian-installer on a local fat partition. Now, my goal is to somehow force the NT bootloader to start vmlinuz and thus initiating the install. Is this possible? How do I do it? I don't have grub or lilo installed on any of the local partitions. I looked into loadlin and bootpart, but neither of them appear to be able to do this directly.

I'm asking because I don't have access to a CD burner or floppy drive (laptop). Thanks for any thoughts.

thanks for the suggestion, but that will get me a colinux install (it runs alongside windows...useful in its own right, but not what i want).

i want to set up a dual boot system. i have an archaic redhat (5.2) cd, which won't install because the packages won't install on my architecture (i guess my hardware is too new). is there any way to use this cd to boot the vmlinuz file on the hard disk? thanks again.

I know this has nothing to do with what you want to know, but why don't you get a more recent Red Hat, or Fedora?

ntldr can boot a plain bootloader, which means it can be the LILO or GRUB bootsector (written to file). The linux kernel, assumes some things are set properly to boot. LILO and GRUB do this. NTLDR doesn't.
However I wasn't able what exactly you want to do. Aren't you able to boot from CD? And why Loadlin fails? Do you have plain DOS for it? Sorry, I'm asking 'cause I didn't understand everything.
