how to see videos with .dat files in Suse 10.3?

Sir,
I am using Suse 10.3. I installed Kaffiene, MPlayer, Noatun Media player, Totem Movie player, Xine, KM player and VLC media player. I tried to see a video having .dat extension (in MPEGAV folder) with each of these players. But failed. Finally I have to depend on Widows and I saw the same video through Windows media player.
How can I see this video?

Extensions like .dat doesn't have much meaning in Linux. The question is what format is the video in? E.g. mpeg1, mpeg2, mpeg3, mpeg4, xvid, divx.....
There are plenty of formats. When you know what fomat it is, you need to install a codec for it. Search e.g. the mplayer website for "codec", and install a package of them (if you haven't already). Then try again.
