HOW TO ENABLED IRDA (Infrared Data Association) in kernel for ARM9 based LPC3250 MC

Hi,

I am working on ARM9 based LPC3250 controller with Linux kernel version 2.6.34 in FDI3250 (Future Design) board.
In FDI3250 board,it is necessary for me to use UART6 for IRDA(Infrared Data Association).

NOTE: UART6 can also be used as IRDA as per LPC3250 data sheet

So, i want to know

-> how to enable IRDA in kernel configuration
-> What are the other changes in kernel or board specific file (fdi3250.c) to receive the data using IRDA (UART6) from IR remote?

Please give reply.

Thanks & Regards,
MOHAMMAD BIYABANI.

When you make menuconfig IRDA is under networking. You might also enable IRDA_DEBUG. Obviously you also need networking enabled. Then build the kernel as usual. Whether you need anything else turned on depends on what you want to communicate with. Look through the Kconfig files in the irda kernel directories to see the various protocols built on IRDA.
