how to add new font to linux ?

I am logged in as a user to Linux redhat7.1
machine.
I want to add a new font, for which
i have myfont.tar.gz file is with me.

I do not have root permission.

any help is appriciated.

A couple of quick thoughts:

1) Are you root in real life, but just not root right now?
If so, become root.

(in a terminal type "su", hit enter, your root password, hit enter)

2) If you really aren't root, then I would suggest that you become friends with the administrator...
