How long is the movie?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a command that could tell me how long a movie, or a sound, is. Something like "file", but with more details. I need it to male a script, so it needs to be in command-line.

Thanks in advance!

i think transcodes tcinfo might help you there, also mplayer has an "-identify" option which will print simialr information.

a basic script is unliekly to cut it though, as there's a huge amount of different containers you could be using, file formats etc... I know how to read avi headers directly, but mpegs? no idea...
