How do I install Java on CentOS 6.2?

I'm trying to get http://www.time.gov to work but it needs a java plugin but the files I get from java.com won't install. Anybody have some good steps to get this going? Thanks for the help

Actually, what you need is not the Java Development Kit from. Instead, you need Java plugin for your browser.
I am not sure how you cannot run java script in your browser, any browser usually comes with java plugin.
Check your browser setting, and see if you have any java setting.

If you want to install JRE on CentOS, follow the steps in this link. I have used this in the past and have found it handy.

You might also try icedtea plugin from the repositories if you do not want to install Oracle (Sun) Java.
