Question how do i get PYDICT (chinese-english dictionary) to work properly?

hello, there's a chinese-english dictionary program (i dont remember if it's in kde or gnome) called pydict that i couldn't get to work. the fonts are all screwy, i dont know how to make it display chinese characters.
i tried to change the language settings of gnome/kde to chinese, but still it didn't work. (well the menus became all chinese, but the dictionary still shows those weird garbled characters...)
