How can I view .wmv files on Ubuntu? Does firefox have a plugin for that?

You need to install the w32codecs.

Thanks, that works if I save the file to the desktop with wget, but its still not playing in firefox any ideas?

You need to install mozilla-mplayer.

Thanks, I installed that, but the wmv doesn't play, if shows a gray box now though.

Any ideas?

does your plugin show up when you look at Tools->Add-ons in the FFx menu? This will indicate whether it has been installed correctly.

I recommend VLC Player from VideoLAN, you can find it in the synaptics package manager...

I use the gecko media player (gnome mplayer). Make sure you get the one that supports non-free codecs. I use Fedora which means I have to install the non-free version from rpmfusion.
