Unhappy How can I move a newly arrived mail to a desired folder in Thunderbird 3?

Hello everyone,

I hope you have a solution for my problem. I recently moved to Thunderbird 3, and liked the tab viewing, even the search module. I have problem though, that currently tried to solve, without success.
When I search for mails from a sender (eg. coss@cat.com), a new tab is opened, and I can see them all, but I can't figure out how to copy all these mails into a desired folder of Inbox (eg. cat).
So ... please if you have any suggestions I would be more than glad to know about it.
I use Ububtu 9.10, if this helps...

PS: searching on Google and Thunderbird Help page about this is a real hassle . Mainly I have observed that Thunderbird help is to overcrowded and rarely helps with something. BUT THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION!

Thank you in advance

Hi,

You can create a filter to filter mail based on the Sender address:
Go: Tools->Message Filters..->New...
On the new screen that appears, give a name for the filter and select "From" on the left, select "Is" from the middle and give the email address you want on the right
Then select the folder you want these mails to be kept
Click "OK" and you're done
You can select "Inbox" and run: Tools->Run Filters on Folder to test the filter

Regards

Got a solution

Hello,

I got a solution, but ... it is a little bit over hand. When searching for a sender all found mails related to it will appear in a new tab. On the upper bar of this tab's window there is a "Open as list". If you press it a new tab is opened and now you can select all mails and do as in version 2 of Thunderbird, respectively right click and select move to.
This is it.
Anyway other ideas are well welcomed.

Good day everyone

Even if I made few tests and added few filter, after running Tools->Run Filters on Folder, where my folder is Inbox, i haven't saw any changes. Any clue?

What I did is this:
Suppose I have a sender sender@mail.com, from which I encountered 10 messages that are placed in "Inbox".
I went to Tools-> Message Filters, hit New and after this selected "Apply filter when Checking Mail or Manually run" ; From Is sender@mail.com, and below Move to ---> SENDER on local folders, hit Done, and after this Tools---> Run filters on folder.

Thank you,

Hi,

Take a look at the attached screenshot.
With this filter any mail from <specific-user>@gmail.com is moved automatically on arrival in folder gmail under Inbox.
I don't know what you're doing wrong, but I never had problem with message filters (either for incoming or outgoing mail) in TB.
