How can I get a networked photosmart 2610 printing with CUPS?
Let me start by saying I'm not really sure where this should go (Software, Hardware, or Networking), so please move it if it would be better somewhere else. I've got an HP Photosmart 2610 connected to my network. I am running Slackware 11.0 (kernel 2.4.33.3) on a Libretto 70CT Pentium MMX with 32MB of RAM. I've tried using the CUPS web interface to set up the printer (as this machine is not cool enough to be able to run KDE or GNOME for the nice printer setup interface). I am mainly not sure what type of network printing this device uses (AppSocket, IPP, etc) nor what the URI should be. I believe that my PPD files are in order (I have one for the 2600, which should work). Whenever I try to add the printer, it appears to work fine, but when I try to print something, it says hostname not found or something like that on the web config page. I am running CUPS version 1.1.23.

Try to set up the printer to use whatever IP address it's using, with port 9100.
