help me setting-up apache web server

Hi,

I hv just installed RH ES4 . I have no idea how to start apache & setup my own site. Please guide

If you are in runlevel 5, the easiest way is to go to System Tools-> Services and then find apache there then "start" it.

For the homepage (index.htm) you can locate it in the apache folder. Just do a locate for apache.

See if this works.

From the command line

:

# /etc/init.d/httpd start

Almost certainly you will need to go to /var/www/html and start editing pages if you want to create static web pages. Anything else like PHP, Perl CGI, etc... you will simply have to learn to crawl before you can run :-)
