Newbie..pls help..I am trying to install this rpm but it says its already installed. Then when I try to remove it it says its not found..PLEASE HELP ME

[root@spamman canit]# [root@spamman root]# rpm -i fp-linux-ms-4.2.0-1.i386.rpm -bash: [root@spamman: command not found
[root@spamman canit]# package fp-linux-ms-4.2.0-1 is already installed -bash: package: command not found

PLease help me

When removing a package you have to use just the package name, drop the .rpm and version number. rpm -e packagename.

I dont know if this will help, but I kind of ran into a similar problem with mysql...

to find the name of the rpm package already installed, perhaps try
rpm -qa | grep *name of package (eg. mysql)*

then you can use the rpm uninstall using this output...
dont remember the exact commands, but try the man pages for rpm to find out.
