Help making and ISO out of a boot disk image...

Hey all,

Trying to make a boot disk into and ISO, the boot disk has a compressed kernel and required modules to run a PC as a serial terminal. (file at http://riddoch.org/linux/terminal/)

Any way I downloaded the file, and extracted it to disk using rawrite, I reboot using the floppy as the boot device and it did its things.

So on a linux box, i created a temp file under usr, and I grabed a disk image

dd if=/dev/fd0 of=boot.img bs=10k count=144

then attempted to convert it to ISO (working out of my tmp directory)

mkisofs -r -b /boot.img -c boot.catalog -o bootcd.iso ./

everything appeared to run fine, and an ISO was produced, i ftp'd the iso over to a windows machine and burned an image using Nero 5.5.

I stuck the rom into the pc I want to boot up as a terminal, and it cam up and started loading,

then a line "Uncompressing Linux" appeared and after typing a few dots, it jumped down the screen a couple lines, and I got
"ran out of input data"

Any help would be appreciated!!!! ALOT! thanks all!

This isn't much help for your problem, but I would recommend mounting any ISOs you produce to make sure that they are good before burning them

Just make a directory (eg /mnt/ISOtest) and run mount -t iso9660 -o loop /path/to/file.iso /mnt/ISOtest
