HELP! Cant log into X-windows!

I was messing around with fonts the whole day (im using Mandrake 10), trying to install various fonts (some from windowsXP, some called Profont for Linux), i belive i screwed something up, and now when i try to load KDE from the command prompt it reads this...

It gives me a long list of Warnings, then it says...

Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"

after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 requests remaining

Ok, these are the directories and files i was messing with...

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType (I added the TrueType dir, then put some MS Windows fonts in there)

Added this line ( FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType" ) to this file: /etc/X11/XF86Config

I copied a bunch of .pcf files to this dir: /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc I then, used this command in the directory: makefontdir

Then i tinkered around a lot in the font settings in KDE

I am able to still boot into the command promt in linux, how can i fix so i can get back into KDE or the GUI?

According to the error message "could not open default font 'fixed'", maybe if i can get the fonts back to default, it would be fixed.

What can i do?? Please help!!

Try moving your configuration to a backup file:

mv /etc/X11/XF86Config /etc/X11/XF86Config.old

Then reconfigure your display using:

drakconf

The above command will open the text version of the Mandrake Control Center. Use tab and arrows keys to maneuver the menus. You can the run through the display configuration again and it will automatically create a new XF86Config file.

Never Mind, i fixed it. I had to copy over XF86Config-4 file with an older backup, and it solved it.
