I am looking to automate my trading system. I do everything manual. I know nothing about lunix or c++.
Unless you provide details, there's no way anyone can help you with anything.
What 'trading system' would you like to automate? What version/distro of Linux are you using? What would you like to do? Goals? Tools available with that trading system? ANYTHING??? Also, please try to use a more descriptive subject in the future, rather than 'Help'...please see the LQ Rules for some examples.
I'm not sure the system i would like to use. At this
point I'm trying to find someone that knows anything about lunix and c++.
Then go from there.
First, there is no "lunix"...it's Linux. And if you aren't using it now, and don't have a system, what's your question???? And why C++? You still haven't clearly stated your goal, or given details. Until you pick a piece of software you want to use, there's not much for anyone here to help you 'automate', is there?
There are MANY folks here that know Linux and C++, along with MANY other languages. If you're wanting to hire a programmer, post something (again, with a CLEAR DESCRIPTION), in the LQ Job Marketplace, along with how much you're willing to pay. Otherwise, decide on a trading system that runs on Linux, then decide what you want to automate.
Thank you for your quick response. I am learning as I go. I am trying to create an automated system that will:
1. Calculate information based on previous day market info.
2. Pull the information from website or spreadsheet
Be able to back test the historical price based on the calculations

Great...now again, see my previous posts.
Which Linux distro do you want to use?
What software package do you want to use for trading?
How does one interface with that package? (GUI? Command-line?)
Answer those things, then someone can help you. If you want someone to WRITE YOU a trading system, then I will again say you need to HIRE SOMEONE...post it in the LQ Job Marketplace, or find a contractor/programmer in your area, and hire them to write it.
Just listing what you want to do without ANY specifics or even a base system to work with, is pointless.

There is a lot of commercial stuff already written and in use by some sites like e-trade, ameritrade and such; why reinvent the wheel.
You know, I hope, that this is not a trivial thing to write, would require a database structure to hold historical data and would take some time to validate and get it right? Like TB0ne says, you may want to hire someone, if you've never programmed this is a major undertaking.
Just take your sentence "calculate information based on previous day market info". Pulled at start or close of business? Throughout the day? You would/could get different results depending on when you pulled data. You have to define what you want very well before you can even start.
Essentially, since a market is real time you truly might be better using systems already written.
