Hello all! I am really new to linux and i was wondering if anyone of u can help me out. i have a 2200+ athlon xp, gforce 4 mx 440, 80Gb hdd, 512 DDram, shuttle ak39...and a mini usb wireless lan client adapter 802.11b. made by a chinese i think because it has all those funny looking letters called TL-WN 230 tp link. I have just downloaded knoppix and i would really like to gain acces to the internet. unfortunatly I have know ideea hoe to do that, and I don t have any drivers. thank U.
Are you trying to use the Knoppix Live CD ?
I'm no expert, but when I tried that Knoppix-live cd I couldn't get the internet up either.
But I did have a look around and it recognized my ethernetcard.
I installed Mandrake 9.2. and everything worked out fine.
If you are having problems after an installation of Knoppix, you might want to explain a bit more about your problem.

When I used knoppix with a cable modem, everything was autodetected and configured. If you are using wireless, you may have to do a google search for your particular hardwared to find a linux driver.
here s the thing: i have to be honest an say that this is my first encounter with linux. i have heard lots and lots and lots of great things and now i can t stop.
this is what i do: i go on to the taskbar and press that little pinguin (KNOPPIX) and then go to network/internet.
i select network card config and i have 2 options: wlan0 and eth0. i choose wlan0. i enter my ip, network masg, default gateway, brodcast address, and name server and hit OK. it starts checking, it pops up some nu such device signs and then it closes as if nothing ever happened.
about google: as i have said before, my MINI usb wireless lan client adapter was made by a chinese (i think) manufacturer called TP LINK and the device s name is tl-wn230 and they don t manufacture any linux drivers.
i am looking forward to some new suggestions pls.
