Hello, has anyone else had this problem with SliTaz 3.0?

The XOrg log keeps showing that it's refusing to use the Nvidia glx module!

I keep seeing "No such file or directory" for a file that's right there!

That's even when I attempted to correct symlinks below with:

cd $fs/usr/lib/X11/modules/extensions
ln -s libglx.so.$VERSION libglx.so

cd $fs/usr/lib/
ln -s libGL.so.$VERSION libGL.so
ln -s libGL.so.$VERSION libGL.so.1
ln -s libGLcore.so.$VERSION libGLcore.so.1
ln -s libnvidia-cfg.so.$VERSION libnvidia-cfg.so.1
ln -s libnvidia-tls.so.$VERSION libnvidia-tls.so.1
ln -s libcuda.so.$VERSION libcuda.so.1
ln -s libcuda.so.$VERSION libcuda.so
ln -s libvdpau.so.$VERSION libvdpau.so.1
ln -s libvdpau_nvidia.so.$VERSION libvdpau_nvidia.so.1

cd $fs/usr/lib/X11
ln -s libXvMCNVIDIA.so.$VERSION libXvMCNVIDIA_dynamic.so.1

Interestingly, I get this or similar:

dlopen: libGLX.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
(EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/X11/modules/extensions//libglx.so <= corrected (because I made a typo, because I used different text, because I lost the darn text I pasted.
(II) UnloadModule: "glx"
(EE) Failed to load module "glx" (loader failed, 7)

And with glxgears:

# glxgears
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

This is when I install the Nvidia driver support with the new Taz hardware detection and installation. It actually gives me a botched install!

I forgot to also post this. It seems no matter what, I also get this entry:

EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the GLX module; please check in your X...

And The NVIDIA X Server Settings displays "Failed to query the GLX server vendor" when you try to view the GLX status info.

EDIT:

Welp, appears that the problem is not a SliTaz special. I saw other reports that look like the same symptoms I have, with other distros.

=> And that even changing symlinks don't fix the problem! <=

UPDATE:
My symptoms look like this: http://www.allquests.com/question/28...t-loading.html (Except I never saw mention of "unresolved symbol" or "undefined symbol".)

Hi,

I do see one thing:

Xorg complains about this: /usr/lib/X11/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so

I do think you placed libglx.so here:/usr/lib/X11/modules/extensions and /usr/lib/

Shouldn't that be: /usr/lib/X11/modules/extensions/nvidia/ instead of /usr/lib/X11/modules/extensions/?

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I made a typo, it actually complains about the file that's right there!

I fixed most stuff, but it seems that any attempt to correct library issues from here on, makes it worse! I'm puzzled!

Hooray, fixed!

The solution was to go ahead with recompiling the kernel and get the installer right from Nvidia.

And I installed 256.44.

=> Just FYI, SliTaz's automated installation is broken! <=

=> Do not try to correct the symlinks of the SliTaz automated installation of Nvidia, it will just make things worse! <=

With SliTaz, compiling the kernel was pretty much nothing!
