GTK+ 2 new documentation

I have GTK+ books that show how to accomplish many things, but many of the functions they use are now deprecated. As I search for documentation that explains how to accomplish the same things with the new API, I'm unable to find anything except automated reference material that shows the parameters and a terse single sentence description of the function. Where on earth is explanatory documentation with examples of using the new API?

For an example question, where are the lists of attributes that can be set to the various types of widgets? I'm looking for the attribute names for a GTK_ICON_VIEW but can't find it.

thanks,
Steve Heflin

gtk+2 documentation quest

Yes, all the sites you listed are perfect examples of what I'm talking about. Nice organized lists of terse references that don't teach you anything. They are great if you already know what you need to call and just want to be reminded of the parameters, but that's the extent of their usefullness. Your Google link gave me some hope as I searched for GTK_ICON_VIEW and it showed a nice list of properties. Unfortunately it was for GTK3 not GTK2. At least the documentation appear to be going the right direction. I'll keep searching for the equivelant for GTK2. I was looking for "attributes" because of the member function "set_attributes", but possibly "properties" is the right thing to be looking for.

thanks for your help,
Steve
