At first, lemme welcome myself to this forum.
I am a complete Linux newbie, that lives in The netherlands.
Let me get to the point, I was trying to install L-mule project.
During ./configure procedure, i learned that much more was needed to get it installed.
Dependencie problems :-) i've downloaded the missing components.
so i did installed the missing components, let me sum that up.
atk-1.6.1
glib-2.4.0
GTK+-2.4.0
and last but not least
pango-1.4.1
here comes the problem.
atk, glib, and pango installed ok
no errors at all
When i run ./configure of GTK+2.4.0 my error is:
***Cannot link pango, pango is neede to build
***check pango.org for more information.
I have done just that, paying pango.org a visit, but no information was found.
I hope that there is somebody that can help me... after some day's of searching the web, i got a little bit sick of it... :-(
I am using kernel 2.6.9-1.667 ( reason for that is that i somehow cant compile my rt2500 ralink drivers, into the 2.6.11 kernel. that also was a pain in the butt thing to complete )
Distro:FC3
You already have gtk 2.4 installed. If you have upgraded your installation you are probably now using gtk 2.6. The packages you need to install so that your package compiles are the development versions. You can use a package management tool called yum to do this, e.g as root you would do
Thanks for your help :-)
I was happy to see a reply
I did the following
Code:
yum install gtk2-devel
I got a Nothing To Do message after yum did a bunch of things like:
*setting up install process
*setting up repos.
Assuming this is correct, i think something else is wrong.
I think i need to do something with linking GTK+ to pango or something..
my only problem is, dunno how to do that.. ( unable to find a HOWTO-install-pango.... after searching for hours..)
i also needed to install the mono-project, is all the stuff i did really needed ?
those other packages ?
i really need some expert advice on this... i'd be another happy linux user.
YUM will give that error if it can't find the package in the rpm repositories or if its already installed. Whats the error you were getting before you compiled your own versions of gtk etc.
