gstreamer compile probs

I figure it's a long-shot to even ask this, but hey, why not?

I'm attempting to upgrade my Slackware 10.1 system (KDE specifically), and during the course of my compiling adventures, I've come to the point where I need to compile and install gstreamer (v 0.8.12), but I'm running into compile errors and not sure why. I assume I'm missing a dependency somewhere, but not sure what specifically. Here are the errors:

Code:

I have tried a few versions of 0.8, all fail with the same errors. I've tried a 0.9 and 0.10, which compile fine without error, but when I attempt to run 'configure' in gst-plugins-0.8.12, it tells me that GStreamer cannot be found (likely because of version differences).

Any ideas why I might be getting this error when compiling gstreamer 0.8.12???

Thanks

- skubik.

I re-ran ./configure, and all looks fine with the exception of:

Code:
configure: Using /usr/var/cache/gstreamer-0.8 as registry cache dir
configure: WARNING: Sissy ! By asking to not build the tests known to fail, you hereby waive your right to customer support. If you do not agree with this EULA, please press Ctrl-C before the next line is printed. By allowing the next line to be printed, you expressly acknowledge your acceptance of this EULA.
My configure call is:
> ./configure --prefix=/usr

I'm certainly not 'asking to not build the tests known to fail'.
Any ideas? I'm completely stumped.

(Furthermore, I'm attempting to build this package because ./configure in the kdemultimedia package I am building stated that this package should be built:
**************************************************
*
* You do not seem to have GStreamer 0.8.x installed.
* Without this aRts and/or aKode output will be used exclusively.
*
* If you actually have gstreamer installed make sure you also have
* the gst-plugins collection installed. Both gstreamer and
* gst-plugins need to be 0.8.x (0.9 is not supported)
* http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/modules/
*
* JuK supports GStreamer output but will also
* work with aRts and aKode.
*
**************************************************

I guess the big question is, do I -NEED- this package installed in order for aRts to function properly, or am I just wasting my time?
)
