GRUB Error 18

Hiho, hopefully I have chosen the right Category.

Here's my problem:

My Server runs "fine", then I type init 6 for rebooting or some cron job initiates Init 6 and my system stops in grub at:

GRUB loading stage1.5.

Error 18

After another Ctrl+Alt+Del the system boots as if anything happened.

this is why I doubt that it's an issue of too big HDD or BIOS.

My system is Debian 2.6.18 Etch

Any help available?

Thx JD

Does this occur anytime it reboots or only if you type init 6, how about reboot or shutdown -r now? What is the motherboard and hard drive on the system? Have you tried updating your bios (may be a bios bug.)

Hm,

BIOS is up to date.

Init 6 works most of the time, sometimes it ends wit the above error.

I solved my main problem (hanging mail server) by removing cron job...

Thanks
JD
