gnu gk

anybody here have any experience with gnugk? i am trying to do the simplest of things and failing miserably. all i would like to do is make a phone call from one VOIP gateway to another, which was very easy to do before i started using gnugk. however, i was asked to use gnugk, and now i can't get it to work. is there a section for rules or some place to put in how to route the calls? i'm really struggling with it, and any help would be appreciated.
