Gnome Seahorse Problems

Hey folks,

I installed Gnome's GNU-pgp frontend (Seahorse) on my Ubuntu 6.06 and my Debian Etch systems. I created my key. All went well. The problem is that I can encrypt files using the Right click context menu "encrypt" choice, but there's no "decrypt" choice when attempting to open the file. I had this set up in Ubuntu on a previous installation, and it just automatically opened the password window whenever I double clicked on an encrypted file. That's not working this time around.

Any ideas?

~Eric

I am having the same issue with my Debian install. Until the issue is sorted out you can always do this from the command line like so..

Quote:
gpg -d somefile.txt.gpg > somefile.txt
I know this is not really your question, but incase you didnt know atleast you can still get your files.

Hi hurt138!

Yeah, I was aware of the command line method for encrypting/decrypting, but it kinda' defeats the purpose of having Seahorse (gpg GUI) installed, if you know what I mean. I haven't installed it in my Fedora Core yet. I'm curious if it will have the same problem there too. Anyway, if I solve it one of these days, I'll post here about what I did to fix it. Please do the same, should you manage to find an answer.

Thanks,

~Eric
