Thumbs down GIMP and LZW

Hi folks.

I can't save files with the GIMP in tiff with the LZW compression !!!

The program say "LZW compression is not available to due to Unisys patent enforcement", I can save with out LZW compression, no problem, but with the XMMS happen the same and I have to download the mpg123 package, the redhat9 don't have because patent stuff. Any one know if installing a new package of the GIMP (what is hard, very dependencies) i have this problem solved?

Before, I use the redhat 7.3 and I don't get this problems, I start to wandering if in the future we get a package of nothing.

Regards
