Everytime I try to use apt-get to install or upgrade, I get the error below.
I am running ubuntu 7.10 gusty gibbon.
apt-get was running fine previously I'm not sure what went wrong.

Looks like you just need to sudo gedit /usr/share/gconf/schemas/update-notifier.schemas and change line 7 to look like this:
