getmail Fetches Mail Multiple Times

Hi!

I have just finished setting up getmail+procmail+spamassassin+clamav+exim4, but now getmail is beginning to exhibit strange behavior: It fetches mail multiple times, and although it is told to delete messages on the server and get only new ones, it does neither.

It all started when I played around with procmail by catting mails I had saved diretly to it to test out various recipes. I don't know what could have happened, the (non-descript) getmail logs tell me nothing, and procmail's log just states that it is called over and over again for the same mails.

What could be the cause of this? Where can I start searching for the error? I've tried Google, but I find it hard to come up with a meaningful search term.

Thanks,
V

Because it started with procmail, the cause might be in (how you use) procmail.....
Can you give a (relevant) quote of your .procmailrc file?
If it was working OK before use of procmail, than someone should be able to find the cause....

that looks 'normal'...

so it must be something in your getmail config...

are you using POP, or IMAP

when using POP you have to specify in your getmail-config when messages are allowed to be deleted..
(see: http://alex.kruijff.org/FreeBSD/Retrieve_e-mail.html at the bottom of the chapter "Retrieve mail")

Huh, strange, it just sorted itself out... dunno why, didn't change any config. I'll report back if things change. Thanks for the support!
