general installation


how are s/w, drivers installed in linux??
Wat does compiling mean??
plz guide me how to these step by step if i have the sources??
another thing, how can i add new devices???

What you are asking is basically "how do I use Linux". It would take too long explain all that, but luckily there are lots of good guides at http://www.tldp.org. You could start with this one:

You need to give us some context for this.....Do you have Linux installed? If so, what distribution?

Very general answers:
Linux typically has drivers built in
For most things, the SW installed thru the package manager
"Compiling" is not a Linux term--it typically is used to mean the whole process of building SW from source. The precise definition is narrower. Go to wikipedia.

Add new devices? What kind of device?
