I am running Red Hat 9 as a web server with php/mysql installed. I am trying to install a php/mysql based site script and it tells me during setup that I do not have the GD library installed but then it says that I do have GD JPEG support enabled. I find this confusing.
I have a GD heading in the output of phpinfo.php when run from a browser and I have the GD RPMs installed when I view my installed RPMs.
I have run another test file that outputs gdinfo through the browser but it only shows an empty page when parsed.
Anybody know what is going on or how I can fix it?
Thank you for your reply. I have searched rpm find and got a laundry list of php-gd rpm's but none were for the red hat 9 distro. I am new to linux so forgive my ignorance on this matter. What rpm distro is safe to apply to red hat 9?

You must install the one that corresponds to your php version, i.e. you should have something like "php-gd-4.3.10-3.6.i386.rpm" for example if you have php 4.3.10 installed.
If you search the rpm repositories like pbone.net they have rpm for various distros and versions. You must pick the one that's close to yours, i.e. RH, Fedora or Centos if you cannot find the exact
