gcc install options

hi,
I need to install gcc on our amd server. "uname -a" gives the following

Linux amd1 2.4.20-8smp #1 SMP Thu Mar 13 16:43:01 EST 2003 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux

The requirement for me is to install gcc to support generating both 32-bit and 64-bit binaries. Im running FC3 32-bit OS. Can anyone please tell me the options to pass while installing gcc-3.4.3, so that -m64 option works fine?

Thanks
Gobi

i tried installing gcc with these configure options

./configure --prefix=/home/gobi/gcc343/ --with-local-prefix=/home/gobi/gcc343/local/ --enable-threads=posix --enable-languages=c --enable-targets=all --enable-decimal-float

then i did make and make install.
But even after doing this, im getting the same problem. When i try to compile the code with -m64 option it says, sorry, unimplemented: 64-bit mode not compiled in
I couldn find, how to configure gcc for 64-bit support, anyone pl help me to solve this.

Thanks,
Gobi
