I think you can use f90 for that (almost standard in linux):

f90 -O -c yourprogname.f90

If you don't have it standard download it via YaST (if you have configured an online source for installation, e.g. packman - it might even be on the ISO CD for suse).

The one we have here at University is the Intel Fortran Compiler:
http://www.intel.com/cd/software/pro...lin/219857.htm

It's not open source; I don't think there's a open source fortran90 compiler - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hope this helps.

I d like first to make sure that i cant compile in f90 so i try:

f90 -O -c larmor.f90
bash: f90: command not found

and

make larmor.x
makefile:61: warning: overriding commands for target `.f.o'
makefile:43: warning: ignoring old commands for target `.f.o'
makefile:76: warning: overriding commands for target `.f90.o'
makefile:41: warning: ignoring old commands for target `.f90.o'
f90 -c `pwd`/larmor.f90
/bin/sh: f90: command not found
make: *** [larmor.o] Error 127

Do I have f90?

Nope, you don't have it. Probably you have g77 (gcc's fortran 77 compiler)

http://www.intel.com/cd/software/pro...lin/219857.htm

It's free but you have to register.

If you don't want that one, you probably have to google a bit to find one. Or you can use a fortran to c translator and then the normal gcc compiler...

You may have a look at g95, too. The free Intel Fortran compiler is a good choice if you have an Intel processor, since it has been optimized for Intel CPUs. Anyway, I suggest to install at least two compilers for testing purpose and compare the results!
