flash plug in for firefox 1.5

Does anyone know how to get flash running on SUSE 10.1 running Firefox 1.5? Which version of flash do I need to run? I tried to get the installer to run in terminal using flash installer, but it was not found. If anyone has an idea, please help.

In the directory where the flashplayer-installer is, there also 2 files (flashplayer.xpt, libflashplayer.so). Copy those 2 files in the subdirectory plugins, under the director where firefox is installed and restart firefox. You can d/l the latest version of flash player from here

Regards

Flash won't play in Foxfire

I try to go into several websites that require Flash player and can't. The two files listed in Bahory's post are in the directory but the sites still will not open. I have checked my file associations for Foxfire and it shows SWF file type to be opened with Flash player but still nothing. What else can I do? I did load Flash from the SUSE 10.1 distro very recently and do updates every week but I noticed the Foxfire "About" tab I was using foxfire 1.08?? I do I verify the correct version?

I have noticed that some websites will not run. I think it's a version problem: macromedia give Windows users version 8 and Linux users version 7. Nothing we can do about it.

Macromedia will be releasing version 9 for Linux (see this). I found this out by chance really; a site I visited needed higher than 7 so I searched Macromedia's forums for a thread asking why.

Macromedia Flash 9 on the way

Thank you Nylex I followed the link you provided.
Flash 9 may be a longer wait than we would all like but "help is on the way" can keep a spirit going a long way Thanks again

I read recently that they will be releasing version 9 for Linux early 2007. Not much hope for anyone other than Windows users. We're screwed again!

I don't know why big companies can't fully support Linux. Even Google has support on some of their services (example Analytics) only for Flash 8. I asked them what's happening and they replied very quick something like:
"We are sorry, but it's your problem if you are running Windows and can use our product or Linux and you can't."
And it's not only Macromedia/Adobe and Google, most of THE companies don't care very much about our OS.
