Firefox not saving any settings?

I just installed Forefox on Fedora Core, I set all my prefrences and book marks the way I like them. I did something that required me to just close all my open browsers and when I re-opened Firefox, all my bookmarks and settings were gone. It looked just like when I ran Firefox for the 1st time???

What is the reason for this?

I was trying to install Macromedia FLash plugin - which I am still also having issues with. But I dont think that effected anything because I never completed the installation in the terminal window.

If I were you I wouldn't use the Flash installer, just copy flashplayer.xpt and libflashplayer.so where you want them. For me that would be ~/.mozilla/plugins but you may prefer /path/to/firefox/plugins , wherever that is.
Is the Flash installer having issues?
