firefox installation rights?

Hi guys, im new to linux.

I have just started using SUSE but im having problems installing Firfox, i havedownloaded version 1.0 (latest) and when i open the compressed package i try to run firfefox-installer-bin but i get a message saying

"
The file
tar:/home/phillips321/firefox-1.0.installer.tar.gz/firefox-installer/firefox-installer-bin
is an executable program. for safety it will not be started.
"

Whats going on guys? in fedora i could run anything i wanted.

I tried to login as root but the same message appears. Is it because im trying to run it from Konqueror?

Please help me get round this small issue.

Cheers guys

If you install it as root, I would suggest installing it to /usr/local or /opt.

For programs that you want to install in your home directory, make a program directory ~/prog and install programs to there.

Wherever you install to, make sure that you create a symbolic link to the executable into your path IE:
Code:
ln -s /usr/local/firefox/firefox /usr/bin
and then you can start firefox by typing "firefox" into an xterm

I hope this helps
