Firefox-60.0.2esr: how to turn off download noise

Just upgraded a Slackware-14.2 host with firefox-60.0.2esr. Of course the UI changed -- again. But now, when I download a file it plays a few musical notes which I find greatly annoying. Cannot find a place in Edit -> Preferences to turn off this noise. Please point me to the proper place.

TIA,

Rich

That's not happening for me here. (Version 62.0)
Do you have the Download Sound add-on installed/running?

Sound on was the default behavior after the upgrade. A web search found an add-on to turn off all sound. I installed it and can now turn on sound for specific pages on a per-tab basis. Noise when downloading files was not automatic with firefox versions I've used since pre-1.0 in the late 1990s.

Sorry but I don't quite understand. Has that add-on resolved your problem or not?

Sort of, but not well. Prior to this latest firefox upgrade to 60.0.2esr sounds were associated with videos and explicitly-selected audio files. Not to file downloads. This was normal behavior for a very long time.

Just after I upgraded the application I downloaded a couple of files from slackbuilds.org. For each, a window (tab) appeared on the lower left corner of the firefox frame and a loud, three-note chime sounded. Reminded me of what I hear when someone boots windoze on their laptop. This noise is loud, unnecessary, and obnoxious (to me). Each download adds a tab to the bar across the bottom of the frame. I looked through preferences, tools, and all the menus for a way to prevent this behavior and found nothing.

Opening the add-on/extension tab I searched for sound related extensions and found one that turns off all sounds. It allows me to turn on sounds for each tab, or for all sites. This is not the same as just stopping this annoying download chime but will do if there's nothing more specific available. I also have added a download status bar tracker so if there's a way to use that instead of the tabs across the bottom of the frame I'll apply that, too.

If I can provide more information ask and I will do so.
