Question Firefox 2.0.0.3 extensions for all-users

I've logged in as root and run firefox -install-global-extension /path/to/downloaded.xpi then launched firefox as root to verify the extension works and appears under add-ons.

Then I close X, log off and log back in as a non-root user and go to add-on's and the extension is not listed nor working.

I have repeated this process for a number of extensions and non-root users and achieve the same results.

How do you make these extensions available to all-users by installing once?

This is just a stab in the dark, but do you need to change permissions on the files that were installed?
