File dividing -- what software?

Ok, i know this will sound stupid. I need to move a 400 mb file to another computer (not connected to internet). So, since I have no cd-burner and have no intent on buying it, I have to use my pitiful 128 meg pendrive aka flashdisk. So I need to divide the file into parts and then put it back into one file. Three years ago, I did a similar thing on my friend's computer with a windoes (yuck) prog called "Total Commander" . But it's a windoes prog, and I don't have windows on either computer.Anyone know a good piece of software to do that? Or maybe, I'm missing something and I can do that without any additional software, aparrt from what I have in standard?

Thanks in advance

You want the "split" command. Run "man split" to see how to use it. Use "cat" to put the pieces back together.
