FC4 Mplayer

I've tried to install MPlayer from source on Fedora Core 4 with KDE (Arts)
If iI just run a ./configure it can't find arts (although it can find alsa but I want it to use arts)
When I run configure with --enable-arts and start compiling it stops when it's compiling arts.
Code:
-I/usr/X11R6/include -o ao_arts.o ao_arts.c
In file included from ao_arts.c:10:
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:139: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:144: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:150: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:156: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:165: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:178: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:191: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:196: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:207: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:218: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:230: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
/usr/include/kde/artsc/artsc.h:240: visibility arg must be one of "hidden", "protected" or "internal"
make[1]: *** [ao_arts.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/"USER"/Downloads/MPlayer-1.0pre7try2/MPlayer-1.0pre7try2/libao2'
make: *** [libao2/libao2.a] Fel 2
What does this mean?

Code:
./configure --disable-alsa --disable-esd --disable-ossaudio --disable-sdl --enable-arts --enable-gui --enable-largefiles --enable-menu --prefix=/usr --confdir=/etc/mplayer --cc=gcc32
This is how I run ./configure

And could someone recommend me a good skin? I've tried the default Blue but I didn't like it.

I you have KDE installed or at least the qt libraries kplayer is a nice front end to Mplayer.

I don't know what your prob is with arts. Can you use arts with other players?

KDE is installed and KDE-devel packages are installed too. Arts work just fine with every other program I've used.
I want to use mplayer to play both movies and regular music. Does kplayer work fine with just mp3s too?

I don't know if any of that will help.

Real player https://player.helixcommunity.org/2004/downloads/ will play mp3s fine.
Xmms with lame installed will play mp3s fine. And yes Mplayer will play mp3s.

Fedora does not come with mp3 support. You'll have to install lame. Xmms will need the lame plug in for it. http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp.../linux/4/lame/
