Export Thunderbird

Hi

I bought a new laptop and want to give my old one away. I have not yet installed Linux on my new one but want to have all my saved mails in Thunderbird from my old laptop (ubuntu 9.10) secured. Is it enough to simply dopy the folder .../thunderbird onto an external drive?

I will try to make Thunderbird accessible from three OSs (Win7, Fedora 12 and Mint 8), if it doesn't work with Win7 its fine, too

Thanks

You can put your Thunderbird folder in a shared data partition and then set up links in the /home/username directory for each OS.

Did someone mention making a backup of important files before doing any of this?

Is copying the /thunderbird folder from ubuntu a sufficient backup?

That works for me.
Just make sure you have all the important data transfered to your new machine before you give the old one away.
