Evolution does not empty spool files

Hi!

In order to filter my mail properly, I've installed a more-or-less standard setup that ends in procmail feeding several local spool files which are then read by Evolution. They are processed further by automatically applying rules to incoming mail according to tags set by procmail and moving them to different folders.

My understanding would now be that Evolution sees the new mail, deletes it from the spool file, puts it in an internal "inbox" folder corresponding to the account pointing to the spool, then moves them around to other internal folders.

However, the mails are only removed from the spool file in irregular intervals, and not whenever they are processed. This results in other applications that look through the spool files to give out false information. For instance, I use checkmail in several scripts that e. g. tell me about the number of messages in the spools, and am thus constantly being reminded about new mail being there.

Is this intended behavior, or is it a bug / can it be toggled? My understanding of a spool file is that it simply acts as a queue for data waiting to be processed, and not as a semi-permanent storage.

Thanks for any help in advance!
Vinter

PS: Evolution is v3.2.2.
