Evolution compile problems with gdk-pixbuf

I am going f***ing insane. When I "./configure --prefix=/opt/evolution" it ALMOST finishes. But it hits a spot where it doesnt like my gdk-pixbuf library. It says I don't have version .18. BUT I DO! I have tried these things.

A.) I downloaded gdk-pixbuf-0.18. I installed it with the regular ./configure, and trusted it to go somewhere where it belonged, already in the path. I ldconfiged, and tried Evolution. Nope. still no version .18.

B.) I installed gdk-pixbuf-0.18 to /opt/gdk18. I added /opt/gdk18/lib to ld.so.conf, and /opt/gdk18/bin to my PATH. I ldconfiged, and tried again. I even logged off, logged on, ldconfiged again, added to path again, and it STILL DIDNT WORK!

C.) I did B.) with gdk-pixbuf-0.90. STILL DIDNT WORK!

What can I do?? Linux CANNOT find my gdk-pixbuf libraries. Help!! I wanna use evolution (

Try
export GDK_PIXBUF_CONFIG=/opt/gdk18/bin
or
setenv GDK_PIXBUF_CONFIG=/opt/gdk18/bin

Nope. That didn't work either.

I Tried something else too. I deleted ld.so.cache, and re-ldconfig'd. Still didnt work.

Running out of ideas here.

Actually what error does ./configure shows Whether it is saying that it cant detect gdk_pixbuf or u have an older version ?

Meanwhile also try this one. Give the above commands and then delete the config.cache file.
