Error message while installing coWPAtty 4.6

While trying to install coWPAtty in Bodhi Linux using the following commands (which I found on the Ubuntu forum):

Code:
cd ~
wget http://www.wirelessdefence.org/Contents/Files/cowpatty-4.6.tgz
tar zxfv cowpatty-4.6.tgz
cd cowpatty-4.6
make cowpatty
sudo cp cowpatty /usr/bin
I got the following error message after the command "make cowpatty":

Code:
cc -pipe -Wall -DOPENSSL -O2 -g3 -ggdb cowpatty.c -o cowpatty utils.o md5.o sha1.o -lpcap -lcrypto
cc: error: utils.o: No such file or directory
cc: error: md5.o: No such file or directory
cc: error: sha1.o: No such file or directory
make: *** [cowpatty] Error 1
and was unable to complete the installation. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

for starters this is rather old code
updated last in July of 2009

so right there there is going to be some problems

it might not build using the current gcc 4.8 or 4.9

if it dose NOT build then install gcc 4.1
( or use the old legacy "gcc34-compat" that might be installed )

READ the text file called " README" for instructions on building

then being a "Makefile" project
you NEED to manually edit the Makefile to match your system

then just type "make"
and not " make cowpatty"

read the make file for why
the "all" is default and will first run the "$(PROGOBJ)"
