Question Error 503 Apache

Hello people,

I am totally confused by this.

I have successfully installed and set up tomcat and apache... independantly.

I am having major headaches integrating the two. I have created the mod_jk2 connector also.

When i goto http://localhost:8080/MyFirst/HelloWorld the helloworld servlet is called and displays correctly. If i use http://localhost/MyFirst/HelloWorld i get error 503 the service is not currently available.

What is going wrong

One thing i can say is, jk2.socket is supposed to be created when tomcat starts, it does not. I think this is the root cause of the problem.

Here is an excert from the apache error log file

----------
[Mon Jul 05 16:45:05 2004] [error] channelUn.connect() connect failed 2 No such file or directory
[Mon Jul 05 16:45:05 2004] [error] ajp13.connect() failed ajp13:/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/work/jk2.socket
[Mon Jul 05 16:45:05 2004] [error] ajp13.service() failed to connect endpoint errno=2 No such file or directory
[Mon Jul 05 16:45:05 2004] [error] ajp13.service() Error forwarding ajp13:/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/work/jk2.socket 1 1
[Mon Jul 05 16:45:05 2004] [error] lb.service() worker failed 120000 for ajp13:/usr/local/jakarta-tomcat/work/jk2.socket
[Mon Jul 05 16:45:05 2004] [error] lb_worker.service() all workers in error or disabled state
[Mon Jul 05 16:45:05 2004] [error] mod_jk2.handler() Error connecting to tomcat 120000, status 503
----------

here is an excert from catalina.out

I suspect Apache cannot locate your workers2.properties file based upon the output from error_log. I placed mine in APACHE_HOME/conf for now.

I believe a parm exists for jk2.properties for pointing to workers2.properties so you could place the file somewhere else.

Good luck, hope this helps
