Eroaster Audio-CDs

So far i've used Eroaster or XcdRosat to burn CDs, but i burned only data cds. However now i have a lot of .mp3's that i would like to make into cd's (playable by normal cd-players)
I used Eroaster to do this, but when it starts, it gives the window in which it should convert .mp3's to .wav and just hangs.
This is what i get in console, when i run Eroaster from a Eterm:

Does anybody have any suggestions on what i should do?
Thanks you in advance

i got that too, i think it's that eroaster has not been updated too recently, when python has.... sadly, i can only recommend downgrading your python installation. and emailing the guy who wrote eroaster...

Hi, ERoaster 2.0.12 is pretty old, true, but there are new (well pretty new) snapshot versions available ... the current snapshot is 2.1.0-0.6 which should fix this. It is available at Sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/project/show...group_id=12895)

Thanks for getting back to us martin, It'd be such a shame to not feel i can reliably recommend eroaster to all those people trying to use xcdroast, thinking it's the only thing around... I still have problems though... i've been using 2.1.0 for a fair while now, since you recommended i upgraded for some bug or other i pointed out to you a while back.
Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/gtk.py", line 130, in __call__
    ret = apply(self.func, a)
  File "/usr/local/lib/eroaster/main.py", line 675, in BurnWriterOptions
    successfull = self.ConvertMp3ToWav()
  File "/usr/local/lib/eroaster/main.py", line 2415, in ConvertMp3ToWav
    filesize = os.path.getsize(wavfilename)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.2/posixpath.py", line 139, in getsize
    st = os.stat(filename)
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/tmp/beachbuggy-it_might_be_the_jets.wav'
i'm using pygtk-0.6.9, pygnome-1.4.2 and python-2.2.1.

I know i should probably post to your sf list, but seeing as you even took the trouble to register here... I'm meant to know python pretty well by know, but it gave way to perl... we'll get there though.

Ok, i upgraded to the newest development release as suggested by Preisl and this time converting from .mp3 to .wav went without problems.
The burning process took some 10 min at 8x and the CD plays fine in normal cd-players.
Thanks for help getting Eroaster to work!

P.S. It would be REALLY nice if Erosater came with a script that automatically setups a group which can use the /dev files needed for burning CD's and which setups all the permissions accordingly. Something similar to when XCDRoast starts up for the first time, and asks if you you would like to make a cd-burning group and which users should be allowed to burn CD's. Just a suggestion...

Hi Chris,

that's just from adding some track to the audio windw and clicking burn. the conversion dialog appears, but naturally nothing happens, apart from that error on the first track. dialog permanently remains 0/12 or however many tracks. it worked flawlesly until i upgrading a bunch pf packages including python. every otehr aspect of the program still works fine. the image path is definitely writable my the user (still fails as root). i totally erased my .eroaster directory, and started again, with the eroasterrc file consisting of

ahhhhhhhh crap, i rooted through the code and found my sox install was shafted! I would however have thought that an error like this would have been picked up in the code. Either way, it was my fault... i knew i shouldn't have doubted you!
