Enabling USB mouse support in kernel 2.4

How do I enable usb mouse support under the 2.4 kernel after installing it? I would also like instructions for installing the kernel update since I'm knew to Linux. I use Caldera OpenLinux eDesktop 2.4 and would personally like to see more how-to sites aimed at it.

not sure on Caldera specific but the best resource is the Linux Documentation Project at www.linuxdoc.org in which I referred to in your previous post of problems.
also there is a site about USB within Linux at http://www.linux-usb.org

I know the mouse will be supported, but does anyone know if the same force feedback you get in Windows will also be supported in Linux.
