emule for SuSe 10.0 - super hassle, big rant...

Hi

I am trying to install emule for my SuSe 10.0 distro, but have been hitting my head against the wall for two days.

Guys, as much as everyone says "linux is just as easy as Windows", I am afraid I am still to be convinced.

I have naturally tried Yast initially but found there was nothing there which remotely appeared to be emule.

then on doing some research for emule for linux found xmule, imule and amule. donwloaded the three of them - at different times - and tried to intall them with Yast... was having nothing of it.

so I went onto the "hard way" using "intall", "make" and all that. firstly found I did not have a C compiler - intalled that, still needed a developers pack, installed that, then needed a C++ pack, installed that... then needed xwWidgets, installed that... then tried amule, still problems, it says something (like a fellow poster) cant find gtk-config (or something like that - sorry dont know exactly as I gave up last night and I am now back in windows, found, downloaded and installed emule in 10 minutes flat!)

anyhow, I dont want to give up - just yet.

Does anyone know where to find or have a simple installable version of emule for SuSe 10.00?

that is all I want, a simple way of getting this lump of metal and wires to to what I want, now and after a few simple instructions, or even, just a few simple clicks..

sorry for the ramble, but as much as one tries to be "Linux-friendly", it always comes back to bite one...

cheers

tahiche

I have installed aMule. To find it with Yast, first you have to add the Packman repository to your installation source (http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_Ya...ories#Packman). Then search amule in the software management and the job is done. Yast manages all the dependencies for you. I checked at the Packman repository website (http://packman.links2linux.de/package/aMule), and aMule for Suse 10.0 is available. Enjoy it!
