I need to re-install the emacs on this Mandrake 6.0, since
the emacs 20.3 dies with a fatal error on every exit
I have a later RPM, but rpm -e wouldn't remove the existing
emacs since the current one is needed by emacs-el among
others. I assume I get the matching version rpms for these
other emacs-related programs, rpm -e those, install the new
ones then install the new emacs. Am I missing anything?

Also, how does one see if a later RPM will work on one's
current Linux system? (Not the kernel, apps like these)
I didn't see anything about this on the FTP sites, I'll look
again.
