E:Type 'deb' is not known on line 39.....

Can someone help me. I am running XUbuntu 6.06

I have tried to install AutoMatix by following the instructions here:
http://www.getautomatix.com/wiki/ind...tion&Itemid=38

The install fails when I type " sudo apt-get update"
the error returned is: E: Type 'deb' is not known on line 39 in source list /etc/apt/source.list

as a result of this, my package manager shows the same error but with the added line "E: Unable to lock the list directory"

At the bottom, I would delete the three lines with the quotes and just leave the last line without the quotes.
