Is there a program in Linux to copy dvds? K3B can't do it yet. I mean put in a dvd, make an image, burn to a dvd?

In a terminal (root) do "dd if=/dev/dvd of=/mydirectory/my.iso" Then you can use cdrecord,k3b,whatever to burn it to a dvd.

Just like making an image with mkisofs? I've never used dd, but I'm going to try now.
First download the newest version, right?
Thanks, Peter

dd is basically a FIFO pipe so you'll get an exact image of the dvd. It makes an excellent iso.

If you are talking about a dvd data disk, that will work. If you are talking about a movie, it won't because the DVD movies have more than 4.7 GB of data.

So true. It's good to know how big the iso's going to be.

Well, what I want to do is copy PS2 games for my boy. He pays a lot for them, then they get scratched and don't work anymore. It's either increase his pocket money, or make copies!
dd is very touchy though. It can't handle sctratches. Stops on input output error. Is there another program or a paranoia mode like in cdrdao?
Does anyone know the difference between dvd + and dvd -?
What is FIFO? Nothing to do with football I presume, that would be FIFA?

Yep,DVDs are not the media they're made out to be. I back mine up before they get in the house good.
