I'm not familiar with Windows 98 in a multi-boot environment, can it be installed in a logical partition?

Boot from Atapi cd-rom:
Grub loading stage1.5
Grub loading .....

Thanx for all the input (especially pixellany). I am going to try to get another windows disk, to rule out that the problem is with the cd.
I'll let you know.

Cool

WHOOOOA...hit the brakes, please. Before spending more money on M$Windows....Linux has many solutions. First the BIOS settings are incorrect. Second, to change the settings is required for installing correctly. Please go to BIOS by pressing "DEL" or "F1" or F10" or some other key in YOUR manual. In the setup the BIOS screen, go to boot startup or boot sequence. First Boot Device is CD-ROM, Second Boot Device is Floppy Drive, and Third Boot Device is Hard Drive. Then reboot the computer with the disc in the CD-ROM tray. If it works, use FDISK to set the first partition for M$Windows. Leave half the Hard Drive for Linux. Follow the instructions for installation. After it works, install Linux in the second half of the Hard Drive. If it fails, use a Super Disc Floppy. Cheap, and they install M$Windows in one try. They are bundled with the instructions. Question: If YOU have Knoppix, why do YOU want M$Windows? Change the Boot sequence after successful installation.

Thanks for the advice, UhhMaybe. However, I have tried booting with this disk repeatedly, and I have checked and re-checked that the BIOS is setup correctly, it just won't boot!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a Super Disc Floppy and where do I find one?

I am an amateur genealogist and I use windows software for my data. I know there are Linux applications available but do not compare to what I already use (none that I could find anyway). So that's why I need windows...
