my last attempt at installing linux (3-4 years ago) ended in frustration.. i am hoping this time it will be a happier ending.

i am trying to install SuSE 8.1 personal edition on my second hard drive. i would prefer to install it with out doing anything major to the drive with XP on it. i am thinking switching the xp to slave and SuSE to master is definately an option.

anyway i have been trying to get SuSE to even boot on the secodn drive with no luck.. it just loads the bios checks then shows the word GRUB and a flashing _ , but nothing.

i am starting lose it... any help would be great.

Hi. I also got SuSE 8.1 Pro today and can't get the dual boot to work. I have winXP Pro on one HD and SuSE on another HD. I'm still trying to figure out why I can't get on the internet.

Looking forward to hearing what others have to say.

Which drive is master and which is slave? I am thinking I should flip flop my drives... make SuSE master and XP the slave.

I know I am going to have issues with my NIC... its on the motherboard so I need to get the linux drivers installed, but I gotta get the dang thing to boot first.
